Championship Football Review: Laois won’t fear Longford men on home turf

Laois v Longford, Portlaoise, Sunday, 3pm

Laois and Longford will go into battle in the first round of the Leinster football Championship. The sides have already played this year, with the game been in Division 3 of the Allianz League, on that occasion Laois got the better of Longford 1-13 to 0-13 at the same venue, so there could be another tight game when the sides meet on Sunday.

Laois will look to players such as Donie Kingston, Darren Strong, and Stephen Attride for leadership, while Longford will look to Brian Kavanagh, Sean McCormack and Michael Quinn.

Laois are priced as 4/7 to win this game, while Longford are 15/8. The winners of this game will play Kildare in the Leinster Quarter Final on the 4th of June and I have a feeling it will be Laois.

Verdict: Laois by 4
