Carlow v Wicklow, Saturday, 3pm, Dr Cullen Park
Near neighbours Carlow and Wicklow will battle it out for a place in the Christy Ring Cup Final against Antrim or Down on the 10th of June at Croke Park. Carlow had a very good win over Kildare in their quarter final over Kildare at Newbridge and came out 11 point winners, on a score of 1-24 to 0-15. James Doyle, Marty Kavanagh and Jack Kavanagh all impressed in that win and manager Colm Bonnar will look to these players yet again to play well.
Wicklow booked their place in the semi-final with a win over Kildare by 3-18 to 2-19. Andy O’Brien was the standout performer that day scoring two goals, while Padraig Doyle also netted in that win. Christy Moorehouse was also in fine form that day from placed balls and another big performance from him can Wicklow book a final spot in early June.
Carlow are firm favourites at 1/6, with the Garden County 9/2 to upset the odds. For me it’s very hard to see past Carlow and they should win this with a bit to spare. Verdict: Carlow by 6
