D1 Semi Final Preview: Cork and Mayo games are always entertaining and tight

Sportstalk.ie will be covering all 4 semi finals from Division 1 & 2 on Sunday through our twitter and website as we continue our dedication to promoting Ladies GAA. Now we understand technically the term Ladies GAA is incorrect but we also will be covering Camogie as well so to us its Ladies GAA.

The Rebelettes are the reigning league champions and will hope to book a place in the Division 1 Final on Sunday but know they’ll have to get over a formidable Mayo side first.

Cork lost two of their league games; their first was against Dublin who just defeated them by one point while the last was in their re-fixed game with Donegal. A place in the semi-final was already secured.

For Mayo manager Peter Leahy no doubt getting to a Division 1 semi-final was the first aim he and his side had for the start of the league campaign and they’ve done just that without Cora Staunton.

Games between these two sides are always tight and entertaining. Mayo stopped Cork last year at the All-Ireland semi-final stage while Cork got the better of Mayo in their earlier league game; just a point between the sides at the end.

Three players to watch: Orla Finn (Cork) | Fiona Leavy (Mayo) | Doireann O’Sullivan (Cork)

Prediction: Cork
