After last year’s disappointing defeat at the hand of Louth in the Junior decider, the Fermanagh ladies football team are back in the decider again which will take place on Saturday week December 5th in Parnell Park against Wicklow.

It was a very impressive performance by Fermanagh winning in the end by seven-points and player Jane Doonan was very pleased to be back in the final. “Ya I know one hundred percent we have been there before and I suppose people might have said that it would stand to us, and of course it does. We try to learn from experience and fix our mistakes like every year is a new year and you know Wicklow and Limerick were down this year so you never know what you come up against.  Look we take every game as it comes and very fortunate to get there again”.

Manager Johnny Garrity was extremely pleased with his team’s performance as they laid the foundation in the first half to hold a commanding lead.

“The foundations gave us a healthy advantage I suppose you would call it to hold onto to and we managed to do that. I don’t think we were ever close to seven-points.

“I suppose from that perspective there was a certain element of comfort but, it didn’t feel like that at the time certainly Limerick threw everything they had at us and we had to defend with some real quality at times and also depend on the goalkeeper for some big and unbelievable saves as well”.

“All things considered were just delighted to get through after a really stern test from a really good team”.
