Westmeath ladies star Lucy McCartan picked up the FAI U/19s womens player of the year award at the recent FAI awards night. It was her second year in a row to be nominated after impressive displays in the Irish jersey. Lucy also studies medicine and plays Gaelic football for Westmeath senior ladies who compete in division 1 of the national football league. At club level for both Peaumount and St Loman’s Mullingar, Lucy has become a hugely important player in both codes.
