Kingdom to reign over Tribesmen

Kerry v Galway, Sunday, 2pm, Croke Park

Kerry and Galway travel to Croke Park on Sunday for what could be an interesting tussle between to attacking teams. Kerry have been out of action since they comprehensively hammered Cork in the Munster, while Galway despite losing the Connacht Final to Roscommon, got back on track last weekend with a superb win over Donegal in Sligo.

Kerry were impressive in their dismantling of Cork. In that game the full forward line of Donaghy, O’Donoghue and Geaney caused havoc, expect to see these players have a big say once more. Kerry also have one of the best midfielders in the country in that of David Moran and his influence in the middle could determine if the Kingdom will come out on top. Galway on the other hand have mixed the good with the bad in recent weeks so it’s hard to say where they really are. They were very poor against Roscommon in the Connacht Final, but last weekend they blew Galway, Johnny Heaney was outstanding. However their full back line is a bit suspect in my opinion and they will need to be on their guard on Sunday, Paul Conroy, Gareth Bradshaw, Michael Daly and Damian Comer can influence the tie for Galway and if they do then Kerry could be shocked in Croker.

The odds are stacked against Galway as they are 9/2 to win. Kerry are firm favourites at 1/5, while the draw is a tasty 12/1. For me it’s very hard to see past Kerry as I feel the Kerry full forward line will take advantage of a weak Galway full back line. Kerry to win this by 5 or 6 points.

Verdict: Kerry
