Mark McHugh is looking forward to the new chapter in Donegal GAA under Declan Bonner. Bonner, a former All-Ireland winner in 1992 and county minor manager was named Donegal Senior boss back in September.
Although they had a disappointing 2017 McHugh told this week’s Super 8s Podcast that the Ulster side still have the talent to compete “It’s a brand new set-up with Declan (Bonner) in. We always have the talent in Donegal. Looking around the dressing room we have this year, we definitely have talent. It’s just a case of getting it out of some of them players”
“Donegal face Kerry in their opening league game. We’re back at it in the next few weeks; working hard. We are away to Kerry in the first game of the league on the 27th (January). We need to be on our toes for that one” said McHugh.
After a tough few months with his club Kilcar where they reached the Ulster club semi-final McHugh is looking forward to returning to the county set-up: “I’m looking forward to it myself, personally. Getting back into it, meeting up with the lads. We had a long auld year with the club. We got an extra few weeks to rest up and refresh the batteries. I can’t wait to get back at it”
