Johnny Sexton gave a very impressive performance for Ireland despite been defeated by Wales in the opening round of the Guinness Six Nations Championship.
Sexton gave a captain’s example in the game in which saw his team down to 14 players after Peter O’Mahony was sent off in the first half.
Sexton laid the foundation for his team with his 100% scoring accuracy (2) penalty (1) conversion.
He sparked a belief in the Irish squad after Wales had gone 6-0 in front, two penalty scores from 35metres under pressure after all the momentum had been with Wales to level up proceedings.
Those scores clearly gave Ireland the belief to push forward and get a worthy try in which Sexton converted to extend Ireland’s lead by 2points.
It might come to some worry as Sexton had to leave the field towards the end of the game due to an injury but hopefully, it is something that isn’t too serious.
Overall a very impressive performance by Sexton and by Ireland there is still a long way to go until the conclusion of the Six Nations Championship.
