Waterford hit Wexford for five

Waterford 05-04(19) Wexford 00-12 (12)

Waterford have got their league campaign up and running after they saw off Wexford in this round four tie.

Both teams played out a very free flowing game of football with very little separating the sides during the game, but as the old saying goes goals wins games and this certainly went in favour of the Munster men as they hit Wexford for five goals which sees their promotion hopes gone up in flames as they slump to the bottom of the division.

The sides were very evenly matched during the first period but on the stoke of half time Waterford were dealt a blow when Ray O’ Ceallaigh was issued with a straight red card.

Waterford lead at the interval 02-02 to 00-06. The second half was a great contest and full credit must go to Wexford as they refused to give up, fighting tooth and nail for ever ball, but their valiant effort just wasn’t enough as Waterford ran out deserved seven-point winners which sees them pick up their first league points.
